What’s for dessert ?: Rum balls
When we think of a holiday tray with cakes, we always miss another kind … Maybe it’s just these rum balls. Easy to make, rich chocolate flavor and rum aroma will adorn any table. You can make them with grated chocolate or use chocolate powder. Everyone who has grated chocolate knows how hard work it is so my choice for this recipe is chocolate powder.
- 250 g ground almonds
- 200 g chocolate powder or grated chocolate
- 2-3 tablespoons of rum
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 70 g of melted butter
- for rolling balls: coconut, ground almonds / hazelnuts / walnuts, ground biscuits, chocolate crumbs
Mix almonds and chocolate powder. Add honey, rum and melted butter and mix. Try the mixture and add more rum or honey if needed. The mixture should be thick and easy to shape. The difference in density may be due to the use of powdered chocolate or grated chocolate, so adjust the density if necessary by adding ground almonds or melted butter. Form the mixture into balls weighing 17 g and, if desired, roll in coconut (these are my favorites), ground almonds and the like. Refrigerate to harden and leave for 15 minutes at room temperature before serving.
